A Voice from the Eastern Door

The family of the late Lucille (Lucy) Ward would like to thank everyone who helped us through this difficult time. Lucille was a generous and loving woman and she touched the lives of many people. This was apparent because there were so many people who were willing to help our family during this time.

We want to thank everyone who donated food, money, tents, air conditioners, chairs, and music… etc. There were so many and we didn’t want to leave anyone out so we didn’t name each person individually, but you know who you are and please know that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your help. However, there is one group of people that we would like to especially thank; The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department. The colleagues of Lucille were at our side day and night. Whatever we needed they made sure we had it. Lucille loved each and every member of that department in her own way and she had special relationships with all of them. Lucille considered all of them her family, and from their actions, we know that they too considered her family as well. We would also like to thank all of the singers and drummers. What you all did was very beautiful and we know Lucille would have loved it. Lucille would have been honored to see the amount of support that we received from the community of Akwesasne and she would have been so proud! Please accept this thank you and know that all of your good deeds truly helped ease some of the pain that we are going through, and her whole family truly appreciates all that everyone did!
