A Voice from the Eastern Door
In Senior B Playoff action the 2nd place Cornwall Island Redmen and 3rd place Snake Island Muskies teams are matched to play against each other in the first round of playoffs in order to advance to the finals. The St Regis Braves placed 1st in the regular season and are presently playing against the Kahnawake Indians who fell to the 4th spot.
On the opening game for the 2nd and 3rd teams, the Redmen overcame their opponent by scoring 13 leaving the Muskies with 5 goals. The following night at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena, the Muskies won in a very close match-up against the Redmen. In Game 3 of playoff action the Muskies won again on their home floor bringing them ahead in the best of seven series.
Tuesday saw Game 4 of the series where the Muskies played off against the Redmen with a lead of 2 games to 1 with the opportunity to close out the series by the Muskies. Snake Island Muskies pulled to an early lead while also shutting out the Cornwall Island Redmen in the first period. The first period 3-goal lead was maintained as the Muskies blew past the Redmen with a final score of 8-4 with the Muskies one game away from taking the first round of in the 2011 playoff season.
Game 5 will be at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena tonight at 8:00pm.
