• The Elders and Youth Gathering hosted by the Onondaga Nation Starts on Sunday, July 24th. This is a camp-out style with meals provided by the cooks. Please bring your eating utensils (bowls, dish, silverware & cup). There will be no paper plates, etc. so this is an environmentally, health place.

There are absolutely no drugs or Alcohol. The majority of people attending will camp out with the elderly, staying in homes. The participants will come from the USA, Canada and Guatemala. The day starts with a pipe ceremony, breakfast, spiritual teachings, and lunch and in the afternoon speakers talk about situations/issues in their communities.

Volunteers are needed; call 315-492-1922 for more information. Follow-up on the gathering in the August 4th issue.

• The Haudenosaunee leadership participated in the Great Lakes Environmental Conference this week, July 18th to July 21st, 2011. Attending the conference were Sid Hill, Jake Edwards, Stuart Patterson and Howard Thompson. Native leadership near and around the Great lakes participated in the conference.

More information next week on the conference and the possible removal of a long ago agreement with the Anishnabe nation.

• A Haudenosaunee Peace and Trade meeting is tentatively scheduled for the first week of August. Possible agenda items: sales tax on cigarettes, ID cards and reports from Great Lakes Conference, EPA regional conference and Youth/Elders Gathering.

• The Iroquois Nationals Board of Directors have posted for the following positions:

-General Manager

-Head Coach

-Coaches

The successful candidates will manage/coach the 19 and under team that will participate in the 2012 International Federation of Lacrosse World Games in Finland.
