Indians defeat Snake Island

The Caughnawaga Indians defeated a seriously depleted Snake Island Muskies on Saturday night at the Kahnawake Sports Complex by a score of 16-11. The Muskies showed up with 11 players and the team’s leading scorer Joe Hall ended up playing in goal. Saturday’s game also saw the debut of Delby Powless in a Caughnawaga Indians jersey.

Powless scored four goals and added five assists in the game to lead the Indians past the Muskies to end a six-game losing streak. The Indians took a 4-2 lead after the first period, and were leading 11-7 after two. The Muskies began to mount a comeback in the third, but their short bench did them in, with the Indians triumphing 16-11.

The Indians will travel to Massena on Thursday night to take on the Muskies. Following that game, the Indians only have two more games left in the regular season. The Three Nations Lacrosse League has not yet announced its playoff schedule.

The Quebec Senior Lacrosse League has however announced its playoff schedule. The Kahnawake Mohawks have four games left this season, all on the road. The next Mohawks game is on Friday night in Massena as they take on the Akwesasne Braves.
