Richard Homer Oakes Jr. “Lil Dickie”

Richard Homer Oakes Jr, “Lil’ Dickie,” Wahakennhoten, age 18, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 27, 2011. Lil’ Dickie was born on August 9, 1992 in Cornwall, Ontario. The son of Kathleen “Punkin” Terrance and Richard “Dickie” Oakes Sr. He is survived by five brothers: Blaze, Kash, Montana, Blade and Xavier and one sister, Secora, his grandparents Mary Lascelles and Phillip Terrance and Larry and Dana Leigh Thompson, by his grandmother Madeline Oakes and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandfather Richard “Dickie” Oakes predeceases him.

Lil’ Dickie enjoyed spending time with his family, playing lacrosse and practicing mixed martial arts. His greatest enjoyments were hunting and fishing and being who he was, Onkwehonwe.

Wake and services were held at his home, 31 Buckshot Road, Cornwall Island beginning Tuesday June 28, 2011 until the funeral being held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 starting at 11:00 a.m. with Loran Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 329 Pitt St. Cornwall Ontario.
