OSWEGO — City police arrested six people, including some from the north country, on June 8 for allegedly trying to sell 47 pounds of Canadian marijuana in the United States, according to a news release.
The suspects were arrested upon execution of multiple search warrants on four motor vehicles and two motel rooms at Days Inn, 101 Route 104, Oswego.
Charged with fourth-degree conspiracy: Christos Fourkiotis, 30, Cornwall, Ontario; Rodney D. LaLonde, 45, Long Sault, Ontario; Matthew P. Mitchell, 29, of 33 Smoke Road, Akwesasne, Ontario; Daniel J. Rode, 20, of 423 Lacomb Road, Norfolk; Adam M. LaLonde, 20, of 327 Roosevelt Road, Massena, and Stephanie L. Smoke, 30, of 60 Smoke Road, Hogansburg.
Police said two of the suspects, Mr. Fourkiotis and Rodney LaLonde, entered the U.S. illegally.
Oswego police also seized three motor vehicles that they said were used to distribute the drugs, roughly $102,000 in cash and 5.6 grams of cocaine.
The suspects were arraigned in Oswego City Court and sent to Oswego County jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond, with the exception of Mr. Mitchell, whose bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
Mr. Fourkiotis is to return to Oswego City Court on July 7; Ms. Smoke, Mr. Rode and Adam LaLonde on July 21 and Mr. Mitchell and Rodney LaLonde on July 26.
