A Voice from the Eastern Door

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino sends guest to WSOP Tournament!

Akwesasne – The World Series of Poker is viewed as the grandest sports event in the world and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino will have representation at the event come July!  Morrisonville native Edward Bouissey won the casino’s poker tournament held on June 11, 2011 with a grand prize of participating in the World Series of Poker Tournament in Las Vegas.  Each of the 90 participants earned their way into the prestigious qualifier from a series of mini-qualifiers held throughout the previous months. With the win, the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino will pay for Mr. Bouissey’s entry fee into the WSOP tournament as well as travel expenses.

Edward stated “Honestly, I just wanted to make it to the final table! I never thought I’d win the tournament again.”  Ed won a similar qualifier in 2009 at the Mohawk Bingo Palace and admits that the experience has taught him some valuable lessons about the game of POKER.  “Going to Las Vegas in 2009, I admit I was overwhelmed.  All you hear walking in is poker chips and cards shuffling.”  Edward was one of 8,000 participants that day and the pressure may have gotten the best of him. “I think I’ve learned valuable lessons from my last trip and I definitely have a better shot this time” exclaimed Mr. Bouissey.

“We wish him the best of luck at the World Series of Poker.  He will represent the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino as well as the North Country in Las Vegas,” states General Manager Patrick Bassney.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is located on Route 37 in Akwesasne, N.Y. For more information call 1-877-99CASINO, go online at http://www.mohawkcasino.com, or see them on FACEBOOK!
