On June 2nd the Massena Lady Raiders defended their Section 10 Overall title by defeating Class C champion Potsdam Central, 14-8 at SUNY Canton. At halftime the score stood at 7-4 and Massena’s overall record improves to 16-1. The Lady Raiders went on to play in the New York New York State Class B Tournament on Saturday, June 4th.
Kiley Buckshot led the Lady Raiders with four goals and two assists. Erin Francis found the back of the net three times and added a helper. Shaydi Oakes and Dominique Valancius contributed a goal and an assist each. Shannon Casey chipped in a goal and an assist while Sierra Thomas-Burke helped with an assist.
The Sandstoners were led by Monique Cornett with four goals while Kaycee Mcguire contributed two. Kalie Grant and Keeley Rice rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.
Alisha Jacobs turned aside nine shots while minding the net for Massena. Abbie Adams stopped eight shots for Potsdam.
Both teams returned to SUN Y Canton on June 4th to play in the state quarter final against section 3. Massena played against Oswego in the Class B matchup while Potsdam went up against CBA-Syracuse in the Class C game.
