The Annual Memorial Day Parade was held this past Sunday afternoon along Route 37. The crowd eagerly waited to pay tribute to the veterans and active duty officers who were able to participate in this years’ event; the theme of which was aptly named, “Past, Present & Future Heroes”.
Event categories for the participants in the parade ranged from Commander Best Overall, Vice Commander Best Float and Best Marchers, to name a few. An official list of the winners for each category were not available at press time.
Once all parade participants made it to the American Legion the wreath ceremony began with active duty officer Erin Cook escorting her grandmother Elaine Cook. Additionally Veteran Ben Kelly escorted Annie King, Sons of the American Legion member Harris Cole escorted Grace Chubb, and finally Sons of the American Legion member Tom Francis escorted his mother Mary Francis. A 21-gun salute rang through the air to complete the ceremony honoring the veterans who put their lives on the line for our people.
