Local PD notified of Prank Calls

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service would like to inform the community of recent reports regarding prank telephone calls. The pranksters are utilizing a website that will send a pre recorded message to any number. The website also allows the input of any phone number to appear as the caller of this prank.

It has been reported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service that the Akwesasne Central Dispatch Emergency number of 613-575-2000 is being utilized for several prank calls to one such business. Police are investigating and want the public to be aware that the callers are using cellular telephones that enables them to display the police telephone number.

Police are encouraging the victims that receive a prank call to document the date and time they receive the call and notify police, as this will assist police in locating the source.
