Redmen over Muskies by three

In Sr. B Lacrosse action the Cornwall Island Redmen overcame the Snake Island Muskies 13-10 last Wednesday night in Massena. The first period saw a 5-goal run by the Redmen early in the first period with 2 goals by Brandon Swamp, 2 goals by Trevin Thompson, and a single from Andrew Lazore within the first twelve minutes of the game. The Muskies countered with a goal by Kyle Point at 13:58 and by Ian Mitchell at 17:26 closing out their first period in scoring. The Redmen continued on with three additional goals by Swamp at 14:33, Jarret Jacobs at 18:55 and again by Swamp at 19:59 bringing the score to 8-2 at the end of the first period.

The Redmen slowed down their offense, scoring their first goal of the second period at 2:50 by Andrew Lazore, followed by Treven Thompson at 7:50. Muskies rallied their offense scoring two quick goals both by Curry Rice at 11:04 and 12:00 respectively. The Redmen offense closed out their second period with goals by Blu Grant at 16:33 and Tyson Oakes at 19:30. The Muskies added two more goals to break up the Redmen’s defense at 17:21 by Corey Thomas and 17:42 by Joe Hall.

The Muskies defense kept the Redmen to one goal for the third period, scored by Nathan Boots early in the third period at 5:55. The Muskies offense saw doubles in the third period from Rice at 3:29 and 6:30, and by Hall at 10:47 and 17:11. Despite a strong effort by the Muskies offense, they could not break through the Redmen defense in time to close the three-goal gap from the first period run.

Akwesasne Braves – 11

The Akwesasne Braves took on the Snake Island Muskies this past Tuesday. Coming off a win in Kahnawake, the Braves outscored the Muskies 11-4. The following is the breakdown of points provided by QSLL-TNLL officials:
