Offense explodes for 47 Runs
The Herkimer Generals traveled to Adirondack CC Monday afternoon for a Region III Softball doubleheader and certainly brought their bats with them. Herkimer outscored the Wolves 47-0 between the two contests, winning game one 20-0 and game two 27-0. They also received great pitching and defense as Krista Oakes picked up the game 1 victory going 5 innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 11 enroute to her 6th complete game of the season. She ran her record to 7-2 on the season. Mollee Putnam bounced back after a rough outing her last time out and she matched Oakes, only giving up 1 hit herself on way to her 9th win of the year. Putnam struck out 3 batters and walked none. Leading the hitting attack in game 1 was Britt Thivierge (3-4, 3 Runs, 2rbi’s) Olivia Tooley (3-5, 2 2B, 2runs, 3 rbi’s) Andrea Rogers (3-3, 2B, 2rbi’s)and Kayla Delles (2-4, 2B, 1 R, 2 rbi’s, 5 SB). Adding hits and rbi’s for Herkimer was Kayla Ladd (1-3,rbi), Emily Woudenberg(1-4, 3B, rbi) Emily Baldwin (1-3, 3B, 2rbi’s).
Game two saw a lot of new faces in the game for the Generals but the same results. Two Freshamn were instrumental the big offensive explosion for Herkimer. Cassie Hennessey (Gloversville, NY) had a career day as she went 4-5, 1 Run, 5 rbi’s and a stolen base. Sally Frakes, another Freshman from Cambridge NY went 4-5, 4 runs scored, 4 rbi’s with a double and a triple. Also having stellar days at the plate were Dinah Vaveao (3-6, 4 R, 4 rbi’s, 2 2B) Emily Woudenberg (3-3, 2B, 2 rbi’s) Britt Thivierge (3-3, 3B, 5 runs) Olivia Tooley (2-4, 2 3B, 2 rbi’s).
Herkimer Takes on Monroe CC at home Tuesday afternoon at 4pm in a Region III Showdown.
