Cornwall Novice Blue Typhoons win Kanata tournament

The Cornwall Novice Blue Typhoons captured the championship trophy at the Kanata Ranger Girls Hockey Tournament at the Bell Sensplex on March 25-27, 2011. Local players from Akwesasne on the team include Millie King and Rylee Garrow. In their first game, the Blue Typhoons beat Gloucester-Cumberland on a score of 5-3. Rylee Garrow had 2 goals. In the 2nd game, Blue Typhoons lost to Kanata Ice Tiger 4 to 3. In their 3rd game, the Blue Typhoons beat Nepean Fire Cats by a score of 4 to 0.

This put them into a semifinal game against #1 seed Kanata Krushers. The Blue Typhoons came out with a 4 to 0 win. Millie King was named Player of the Game.

In the championship game, they played an unbeaten Clarence-Rockland team. The Blue Typhoons came out with a hard fought 2 to 1 win. Rylee Garrow scored the game winner with 3 minutes to go. She was named Player of the Game.
