A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Friday the Massena Girls Hockey team ended its last regular season game with a 2-0 loss against Oswego. Prior to the start of the game Massena’s seniors were honored for their dedication and commitment in helping to lay the foundation for the girl’s team. This is the first group of graduating seniors since the inception of the program four years ago. The seniors are Emily Babcock, Brittany Beckstead, Lindsey Rusello and Sarah Reagan.
After a scoreless first period, Oswego’s Karissa Favata connected on a goal just 2:35 seconds into the second period followed by Devyn Hutchenson’s goal at 3:36 in the third to seal the win. Megan Hans played a solid game for Massena as she turned away 22 shots. Oswego’s Madisyn Whalen had 24 saves in net for Oswego. Massena finished out its regular season play with a 5-11-2 overall record. This strong finish has earned the Lady Raiders a spot in the championship playoffs.
