AKWESASNE – Mr. Paul J. “P.J.” Terrance, “Aronio”, age 37, of 36 McGee Road, passed away on Thursday morning, January 27, 2011, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, where he had been admitted on Tuesday.
PJ was born June 19, 1973 in Rochester, the son of Paul C. and Glenda Thompson Terrance. He attended Mohawk, Twin Rivers, and Salmon River Central Schools. He graduated from Northfield Prep School, where he played football. He later took courses at St. Lawrence University.
He was a pipefitter with the Pipefitter’s Union in Oswego, until becoming disabled. He was an avid trivia player, having competed with many on the reservation. PJ was also a big lacrosse fan, having played when he was younger. He was an Upward Bound counselor and enjoyed the comaraderie at his “second home”, the police station. PJ also enjoyed social networking, and watching movies.
He is survived by his mother, Glenda Terrance and her companion, Ken Kentner of Lisbon and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. PJ is also survived by his chosen mother, Lori Rouselle of Akwesasne; his chosen grandfather, Clifford Kentner of Lisbon; and chosen siblings, Brandy and Shannon Kentner of Lisbon.
He was predeceased by his father, Paul on February 22, 1996, an infant sister, Billie Jo on July 24, 1975, and his grandparents, Eugene and Margaret Terrance and Joseph and Harriet Thompson.
Friends called at his home beginning Saturday until Funeral services held Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse. Burial followed the services at Longhouse Cemetery, Akwesasne, Ontario.
