The St. Regis Mohawk School honored their exemplary students on February 7, 2010, in the first monthly Student Achievement Assembly. Students were recognized for the following accomplishments: Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Students in Special Areas, and Students of the Month.
Students in grades 4, 5, & 6 are recognized for outstanding academic achievement: Principal’s List is achieved with an average of 95 or higher, High Honor Roll is achieved with an average of 90 to 94, Honor Roll is achieved with an average of 85-89. Student’s averages are calculated quarterly.

Perfect Attendance
Achievement for Perfect Attendance requires zero absences from school, as well as zero tardy arrivals to school- At this award ceremony, students who had perfect attendance from September 8, 2010 through January 4, 2011 were celebrated: Anya Derouchie-Pyke, Vaughn Doxtator, Jett Jock, Creedence King, Ivan King, Madison King, Damien Lazore, Joseph Pyke, Kaiden Skidders, Kyren Skidders, Addison Tarbell, Jenna Tarbell, Geena Terrance, Charles Thomas, Tyson Thomas, and Eystn Wylie. At future awards assemblies, students with perfect attendance for that month will be celebrated. Students will have their names entered into a draw for great prizes at the end of the year.
Special Areas Outstanding Students
Special Area Teachers selected students which demonstrate outstanding citizenship, command of the subject area, as well as the character trait for December: Generosity. The following students were recognized for their excellence in Special Areas: Raighanne Torrence (Art), Kanatires Barreiro (Art), Levi Pyke (Library), Kahnekahawi (Library), Joryan Adams (Music), Kameron LaFrance (Music), Katsi’tsiakwas Lenni Terrance (Mohawk Language), Kaniehtahawi Colonie Gray (Mohawk Language), Kenyon Bearshield (Phys. Ed), Kyren Sunday (Phys. Ed), Kiyahna Thompson (Technology), and Jasmine Pyke (Technology).
Students of the Month
Classroom teachers select students who meet or exceed the following criteria: Participates in Writer’s and Reader’s Workshop, works to the best of their ability, completes class work and homework, has good attendance, participates in class lessons and discussions, has a positive attitude, is respectful and considerate to others, follows school and bus rules, is helpful to others, shows leadership qualities, and demonstrates qualities of monthly character trait (generosity for December).

As a reward for excellence, Students of the Month are entitled to participate in special activities during the school day. Activities include a movie & popcorn party, breakfast with the Principal, arts & crafts activity, and swimming and ice skating at Salmon River Central School.
The next Student Achievement Assembly will be held on February 4, 2011 at 9:30 am. Everyone is invited to attend to help us celebrate our outstanding students.
