Harry “Muzz” McDonald

AKWESASNE–Harry “Muzz” McDonald, age 57, of 10 Helena Rd., passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken  after being stricken at the Casino.

Harry was born on June 3, 1953, in Cornwall, Ont., the son of Angus and Sally Garrow McDonald.  He graduated from Salmon River Central in 1972, and attended SUNY New Paltz, NY.  He married Bonnie MacDonell on May 21, 1994 at St. Patrick’s Church in Hogansburg.

He was employed as a gaming inspector at the Casino until his retirement.  He was a member of the St. Regis Catholic Church.  His passions were the Casino and golfing. Harry got a hole in one at Cedar View.  He also loved his cats: Lady, Trouble, Albert, and Little One.

He will truly be missed by his loving wife Bonnie; his sister Carol and Carl White, St. Regis Village; his three brothers Angus and Sheila McDonald, Beaver Meadow Rd .; Jim and Nikki, McGee Rd., and Jerry and Terry, Syne.  Harry is also survived by his chosen son Bill North, the Racquette; a chosen daughter Shannon Niles, Malone, NY; his god daughter Carrie Ann Smoke, Akwesasne; his mother-in-law Darlene MacDonell, Cornwall, Ont .; his brothers and sisters-in-law:  Richard and Toni MacDonell, Summerstown, Ont .; Terry MacDonell Taillon, Cornwall, Ont .; Debbie and Glenn Housh, Monkland, Ont .; Steve and Sandra MacDonell, Long Sault, Ont .; and Timmy and Sharron MacDonell, Cornwall, Ont .;  and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a stepbrother Arthur Swamp, Jr., on February 22, 2005.

Friends called at the Kateri Hall starting Tuesday until the funeral held Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Regis Catholic Church, with Rev. George Belgarde, S.J., officiating.
