Kawehno:ke hosts annual Spirit Of Christmas event

Christmas was in the air at the Kawehno:ke Recreation Centre this past weekend as they celebrated with their annual Christmas wreath fundraising event. Activities that took place over the weekend included lunches and dinners for sale, raffles, the silent auction of the wreaths and Christmas trees, and vendors selling their wares.

The wreaths and Christmas trees that were donated to this event were varied in theme, like the “Christmas in the Garage” tree, donated by Julia Roundpoint and Family; and “For the Love of Chocolate” tree, donated by Tracy Thompson.

Members of the organizing committee were excited about the community turnout over the three-day event, with a rush coming in as the bidding closed at 2:00pm Sunday afternoon. The members of the Recreation committee, Tracey Thompson, Gloria Thompson and Char Cook, thanked the volunteers for their hard work and dedication to the fundraiser. The volunteers that weekend included: Janet Caldwell, Terri Bova, Taylor Day, Corie Francis and Jenna Thompson.
