Notice to the Community

This is to inform the community that the following persons have applied for Akwesasne Membership under the Akwesasne Membership Code.

Shyla Jean Oakes, age 16, daughter of Robin Oakes (Akwesasne) and Arnold Mason (Six Nations).

Kahentineson Skidders, age 19, daughter of Ralph Jay Skidders (Akwesasne) and Stacy Huff (Moravians of the Thames).

Brianna Pressley Thompson, age 17, daughter of Bridgette Thompson (Akwesasne) and Fredrick Holloway, non-native.

Chelby Kristine Celone, age 20, daughter of Cassie Cole Celone (Akwesasne) and Tony Celone, non-native.

Monica Leanne Papineau, age 19, has applied for Probationary Membership and a Residency Permit.  She is the daughter of Kent Papineau (Akwesasne) and Joan Shenandoah Papineau (Onondaga).

Evita Andrea Tekahonwake Stacey, age 26, has applied for a Residency Permit.  She is registered with Kahnawake.

The following persons have been Probationary Members and the Membership Board is now considering their full membership.

Micheal Thomas Massaro, age 42, son of Eloise McDonald Massaro (Akwesasne) and Daniel Massaro, a non-native.

Darren Allan Major, age 30, son of Phyllis Thompson Major (Akwesasne) and Henry Major, non-native.

Corey Benedict-Bough, age 23, son of Tess Benedict (Akwesasne) and Carey Bough, a non-native.

Community Members have until December 3, 2010 to indicate whether they wish to make submissions regarding the above applicants.

At a meeting of the Akwesasne Membership Board on November 13, 2010, the Board granted full Membership to Tyler Hill, Daylon Francis Vallieres and Laryssa Cole.  The Board cancelled the Probationary Membership of William Thomas, Lynn Montour Mitchell, Jason White, Frederick Johnson and John Tooker.

Community members wishing to appeal the Membership Board’s decisions on the above applicants have 30 days to appeal to the Council of Elders.
