The Colts opened the season with a 6-2 win over the Alexandria Glens. The Colts were down 2-0 early on but Brett Warner stood tall between the pipes and made a total of 21 saves to lead his team to victory. Vincent Paul had 3 goals while Naylen Laffin had 2 goals and an assist to lead the team with the offence. Kyle Lewis completed the scoring for the Colts while Brantley Adams had 2 assists.
In Long Sault, the Colts dropped the contest 5-4 to the Select. Samuel Dussault was solid making 29 saves for his team, but they came up short. Joe Grady had a goal and an assist while Naylen Laffin scored twice. Vincent Paul completed the scoring for the Colts with Kris Villeneuve and Colin Allaire adding one assist each. The Colts had more bad luck that evening when they learned that Allaire will be out until December with a broken elbow.
In Alexandria the Colts managed to steal a point with a 4-4 tie thanks to several key saves by Samuel Dussault. Nick Scott had 2 goals while Joe Grady scored with 15 seconds left on the clock to tie the game( he also added an assist during the game). Other notables were Vincent Paul with a goal, Joshua Landry and Kris Villeneuve with an assist each. Brantley Adams was reliable as usual, killing penalties and blocking several shots. Conor Periard was steady like a rock on the blue line with a strong physical presence.
Back in Cornwall, the Colts hosted North Dundas and managed to win the game by a score of 3-2. Goalie Brett Warner made some big saves in the 3rd period to preserve the win while Naylen Laffin (2 helpers) Kyle Lewis (1 goal & 1 assist) and Grayson Phillips (1 goal& 1 assist) lead the offensive charge. Jordan Cadieux won all the face-offs he took and had the winning goal on a beautiful set-up from Blaise Leroux. However, the win was costly when the very reliable Sam Walsh had to leave the game with a hand injury. Newly named alternate Captain Mikael Dobson was very solid on the blue line, killing several penalties and blocking shots. The next day The Colts went to North Dundas- Conor Periard offered another solid game on the blue line and Joe Grady took charge of the offence with a hat trick and an assist for a 6-2 win. Brantley Adams, Kyle Lewis and Jordan Parisien completed the scoring.
Week-end tournament “The DUEL” in Perth- and the Minor Midget Colts were ready. - Game #1 VS West Carleton. Samuel Dussault made 28 saves on 29 shots- but the Colts lost 2-1. A player from the Colts hit a puck in the air with his glove, which hit a leg and a skate only to land behind the goalie. The lone goal was scored by Grayson Phillips with helpers going to Mikael Dobson and Naylen Laffin.
Game #2 VS the home team- Perth, Goalie Brett Warner delivered 19 saves on 20 shots, but again the Colts lost, this time: 1-0. Kyle Lewis was used everywhere during the game and did a great job- taking face-off, killing penalties and playing back on the blue line!
Game #3 VS Smiths Falls a MUST win for the Colts to stay in. A heartbreaker when the Colts lost the game 3-2, in overtime… Goals went to Nick Scott and Mikael Dobson while Grayson Phillips, Joe Grady and Jordan Parisien added one assist each. Another great performance by Samuel Dussault in net while Blaise Leroux made his presence known with several body checks.
Game #4 had “no importance” but the Colts were not going home without a win. They won VS Arnprior 5-0 on a 12 saves shutout for Brett Warner while receiving goals from 5 different players: Grayson Phillips, Naylen Laffin, Jordan Cadieux, Joseph Grady and Kris Villeneuve. Assist went to Naylen Laffin (2), Brantley Adams (2), Conor Périard, Sam Walsh and Grayson Phillips.
We are back in action next week-end for another tournament (all day Sunday).
