Dufoe Sentenced

Amber Dufoe, the 25-year old Akwesasne woman who pleaded guilty to killing Thomas Hathaway in 2008 received her sentence on Monday. Dufoe had agreed to plead to manslaughter and in exchange avoided a murder trial or punishment associated with a murder conviction. On Sept. 20 a Franklin County judge sentenced her to the expected 20 years in prison agreed upon by the district attorney.

Dufoe’s boyfriend, Richard Oakes, also took a plea bargain and admitted to manslaughter but he has asked a judge to throw out his confession.
