The Akwesasne Warriors of the “A” Federal Hockey League announced today that they have signed defenseman Carter Trevisani, to a tryout agreement. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced.
Trevisani was recruited to play collegiate hockey for Ohio State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association for the 2000-01 season. After only ten games into his freshman year, Carter left Ohio State to play more regularly at the at the major junior level for the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL from 2000-2003. During his tenure with the 67’s Trevisani was drafted 244th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. In his three season in the OHL Carter amassed 83 points in 169 games.
Carter immediately jumped to Italy and the Lega Italiana Hockey Ghiaccio (LIHG). Trevisani has played in the league since, except for 2006-07 when he played in Sweden’s Allsvenskan.
His dual citizenship allowed him to appear at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games for Italy, scoring one goal in five games. He has appeared for Italy at the IIHF World Hockey Championships on three different occasions.
The Akwesasne Warriors will take to the ice this fall at Anowarako:wa Arena in Akwesasne Ontario.
