Big Brother has always been a kid who likes things his way. He wants his cars perfectly parked on his cars mat just so. He will only eat a cheeseburger as long as it has no pickles and no onions. That goes for out to eat and home, as if I’m going to accidentally put it on his burger. He’ll eat pickles out of the jar as long as they are whole not sliced. I have no idea where he made this taste bud distinction but he’ll also eat onion rings but not onions. When it comes to his toys one Rubbermaid shoebox is only legos. He also has one tote for only his five car mats which makes no sense to me but he has insisted that he has to keep them in good shape. My guess is away from his little brother because he doesn’t want him touching his things. One tote is only hot wheel cars, I have made the mistake while cleaning of just tossing in a few ‘cheap, non hot wheel logo bearing rejects’ and in a fit of disbelief my five year old dumped the whole tote and had to check the underside of every single car. The others whom he deemed ugly were given to Little Brother’s toy box since he’ll like it. Big Brother also has to be seated behind my driver’s seat on car rides.
Little Brother on the other hand is a go with the flow kid of kid. He doesn’t care that his toy box is everything mixed together, he enjoys dumping the whole thing out or digging for that one special toy like he’s on some kind of treasure hunting expedition. When it comes to food, Little Brother will eat anything as long as he feels like it’s a good time to eat. He’ll just sit in his highchair playing drop the food if he doesn’t feel like eating. We usually have a fight at lunch time because I want him to eat at least some of it and he’s real good at smacking the spoon or food away. If he had it his way he would eat walking around. It’s bad enough he randomly throws his sippy cup and busts the top off of it. Thankfully he’s not as picky as his brother. The cup and the covers do not have to match. Big Brother has even tried to be so bossy that he tried to make me match his plate with his fork and make sure to get the same cup too. As for car rides Little Brother doesn’t care which side is his on as long as he has his blankie because before we get five minutes down the road he’ll be sleeping no matter what.
Little Brother is our little Mr. Random and Big Brother is our Mr. Meticulous. You should hear the fights when Mr. random breaks his way in the room of Mr. Meticulous and kicks and throws all the perfectly parked cars all over the room. It’s sad and funny at the same time. All one wants is order and all the other one wants is chaos.
