“The Akwesasne Freedom School’s annual dinner has grown over the years into a major event here. The fundraiser attracts people not only from Akwesasne but from many other communities as well.

The 1987 event saw many teams participating in the Survival Race. With teams from Toronto, Kahnawake, and Akwesasne, the competition was intense.

Kahnawake finished first with Akwesasne’s Red Devils second. The participants are shown here after the race.”
