St. Lawrence Thunder Advance to Quarterfinals

The St. Lawrence Thunder Bantam hockey team competed in the 2010 USA Hockey Tier 2 National Championships held in Wayne, New Jersey on April 7 – 11, 2010. In their first game of the preliminary round on April 7th, the Thunder played Pennsylvania and came out with a 4 to 0 win. Cory Garrow had 35 saves in the nets for the shutout win. In their second game on April 8th, the Thunder played Colorado and ended up on the losing end 1 to 0. Cory had 34 saves in the loss. On Friday April 9th, the Thunder played Wisconsin and came out with an 8 to 0 win. Kyle Grant had 9 saves in the nets for the win. This win advanced the Thunder to the quarterfinals crossover and was matched up with Michigan. This was a close physical game as the score was 2 to 2 late in the second period. Michigan pulled away to a 5 to 2 win. Cory Garrow made 36 saves in the nets for the Thunder. Michigan would go on to beat Illinois 1 to 0 in the semifinals and Los Angeles California in the championship game to become the tier 2 national champions. Congratulations to the St. Lawrence Thunder for a successful season.
