A Voice from the Eastern Door
On March 19 and 20, several committed community members met at the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Community Building for a series of training classes for certification in CPR/AED. The course was offered by the SRMT’s Emergency Planning Office and was taught by instructors from ZEE Medical. The class was intended for first time CPR/AED certification and refreshers.
CPR stands for Cadiopulmonary Resuscitation and is often the first emergency procedure conducted for people suffering Sudden Caridac Arrest (SCA). An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator, which uses an electrical shock to reestablish heart rhythm in patients experiencing SCA. Together, these two emergency maneuvers help saves hundreds of lives every year.
Sol Epstein, Area Sales Manager for ZEE Medical, reassured his students that they needed to be committed to their certification in order to help someone in need.
“The goal of the class is for you to be able to walk out that door and be willing and able to do what I am telling you.”
Although CPR/AED training has become much simpler in recent years the class was still a tough and rewarding one for the students. For more information about upcoming CPR/AED training you can call the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Emergency Planning Office at (518) 358 – 2272. The more people we have in the community with medical first responders training the safer the community will be.
