Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School (CCVS) Raiders Girls Volleyball played against St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School (SJCSS) Panthers on home turf in Cornwall on Feb. 19. The team, lead by Coaches Romaine Mitchell and Barry Brown, let the Panthers know early in the game that they meant business.
This was the SD&G ‘AAA’ Championship game for the rambunctious squad whose record stood at 5-4. CCVS wasted no time doubling the scores of SJCSS in the first set with 25-12. The CCVS girls then took an early lead over SJCSS finishing 25-19 in the second set. The panthers did not give up easily with the final set of 25-20. The Raiders ended the game with an impressive 3-0 win over SJCSS.
The raiders will advance on to the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Championship to be held in Pembroke at Fellowes HS.
