A Voice from the Eastern Door

K & P Fuels is now open for business

There is a new fuel business in town, and they want to keep you and your family warm this winter.

Kuy Chaussi and Pat Pyke from Akwesasne are owners of K & P Fuels, a business they began over a year ago which they called an adventure. With help from Akwesasne Economic Development, they created their business plan and began the arduous process of becoming business owners. After making sure they had all the equipment, proper training, and met all safety standards they officially started as K & P Fuels on Jan. 1.

In the past, there used to be 3 fuel companies serving Akwesasne, and now there is only one, # 9 Fuels. # 9 Fuels has been a dependable fuel service in Akwesasne for many years. Because they were the only company in Akwesasne they were always very busy, which is why Kuy and Pat thought it would be a good business to start. #9 has even helped Kuy and Pat to navigate the fuel industry in order to get their business started.

“The competition is good,” said Pat. “It let’s customers know that they are getting a fair price so its actually beneficial to the community.”

Many people do not realize that they have an option in fuel service and K & P Fuels understands that with the late start in the season it may be difficult to start thinking about changing now. But, K & P Fuels would like Akwesasne to know that: they are open 24/7; they serve both sides of Akwesasne with 2 fuel trucks, one on each side of the bridge, which are licensed to transport to either side; they accept both Mohawk Counsel of Akwesasne and St. Regis Mohawk Tribe fuel assistance programs; and because they carry Canadian fuels they take Canadian money at par at competitive prices daily. You can call 613-551-2108 or 613-551-0622 to speak to Kuy or Pat and get fuel delivered to your home.

K & P Fuels is soon to be located at 607 Island Road, Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island).
