A Voice from the Eastern Door

Senior’s Joe Cooke retires from bus driving

There were many hugs, smiling faces, and laughs to be had at the Tsi Tetewatatkens Senior’s Center on Jan. 13, as they said farewell and happy retirement to their beloved bus driver Joe Cooke.

Mr. Cooke used to work for Alcoa and for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Housing Authority before coming to work for the Senior’s Center in 2003. For Mr. Cooke, the best part of the job was all the joking and having fun with the seniors and getting to hear all their funny stories. He says he plans to travel and visit people who he hasn’t visited with in a while. But, this will not be the last the seniors see of Mr. Cooke because he also said that he will be back at the center often to get the latest gossip. Congratulations!
