A Voice from the Eastern Door
There was a basketball game for the SRC girls varsity and junior varsity teams on January 8, at SR gymnasium. The games were against Chateaugay for both teams and both victories went to the Shamrocks. When Chateaugay comes to town, spectators know it will be a display of fast pacedness and excitment. Chateaugay teams have been usually strong in the past and now Salmon River has turned it around. If you enjoy watching the game of basketball, last Friday’s game was the night to see these two teams matched up.
From the start, the SR dribblers stayed ahead in their game until they sealed the win 34-26. Here is a list of all the contributors to Friday night’s game. There were 7 points each from Karyss Terrance, Kaeli LaFrance, and Aubrey Phillips. Jenn Wood and Ashley Martinacquired 6 points each along with 4 points each for foul shots. Kaeli LaFrance tossed in a three pointer for her SR Shamrocks.
Karen Francis is the head coach for the Varsity girls with the assistance of Bill Cook.
Both have an abundance of valuable knowledge and skill they pass on to the young ladies. Karen shared that in her four years of coaching at Salmon, SR hasn’t been able to beat Chateaugay until Friday night. Next week, there will be an additional story to go along with the post game victory celebration. Jocelyn Kelly is the coach for the Jr. Varsity girls and she to gives these girls a wealth of her acquired experiences from her outstanding high school and college years of basketball. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and knowledgeable coaches for the girls. The Jr. Varsity team also came out on top from their Friday night game with a score of 50 - 26 with Abby Kelly making 21 points for the evening. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GIRLS.
