A Voice from the Eastern Door
On a recent day when the temperature dipped to eleven below zero, ironworkers at Salmon River penned a note to students to stay in school.
From left to right Shannon Cote, Calvin Lanpher, Russell Tarbell, Carl Mitchell, Allen Arquette and Vaughn Arquette (not in photo) all shared the sentiment, STAY IN SCHOOL. Russell Tarbell wrote a note on a steel column to the students expressing his concern for their future well being. Russell has children who attended Salmon River and is now looking forward to his grandchildren’s attendance. All of the workers expressed pride in the work hey are doing for the next generation of students at Salmon River. Russell also reminded us that joining the union now requires a high school diploma!
The school’s expansion includes the construction of a new middle school, additional classrooms throughout the campus and updated equipment and facilities.
