A Voice from the Eastern Door
Does it seem like you have been searching for a place to play pool/billiards? Those were the sentiments of William “Billy” Arquette Jr. owner of Shot Callers Billiards of 54 Orvis Street Massena, New York.
Arquette had been playing pool since he was 8 years old and used to enjoy playing at the old pool hall that was located in Akwesasne. But, after it closed he would go to Cornwall to play and said it always felt like it was a good business. Troubled with the recent border crossing issues he began to feel like there were fewer options to go and play pool. So, on Dec. 1, Arquette opened Shot Callers Billiards.
“I love pool,” he said last week while playing at Shot Callers Billiards with his brother Darwin Arquette. “And I like to play so much that I opened the shop.”
Shot Caller Billiards is open Sunday thru Saturday 10:00am to 11:00pm. Hourly rates are $9 and they offer private hour lessons for $25. The hall has 9-8ft. and 3-9ft. tables, a foosball table and plays hip hop music. They hold a pool tournament every Saturday starting at 12:00 pm with a $25 entry fee.
Shot Callers Billiards is a drug and alcohol free environment.
