Salmon River 2nd graders perform “A Charlie Brown Christmas”

Just before Christmas break, students in Mrs. Miller’s 2nd grade class at Salmon River Central invited parents and other guests to crowd into their classroom and witness their newfound acting talent.

Mrs. Miller and her class performed “A Charlie Brown Christmas” complete with all the main characters like Linus, Violet, Peg Pen, Patty, Lucy, Schroeder, Sally, Frieda, Jenna and of course Charlie Brown himself. The play also featured elaborate set designs and homemade costumes and parents were impressed by the entire production.

“I was just amazed that she (Mrs. Miller) went that extra step to introduce these kids to theater at such a young age,” said Nancy Oakes who attended to watch her niece Secora Oakes. “It was just a lot of fun.”

The students all memorized their lines with help at home from their parents, and various businesses sponsored the play to help with the extracurricular costs.

The actors in the play were Secora Oakes, Kirsten David, Reese Conners, Tiarra Anderson, Luca Bigtree, Nolie Thompson, Katelin Griffin, Logan Chapman, Madison Premo, Carli Cartier, Gwen McCaffrey, Shayla Thompson, Cady Wells, Erika Reardon, Dylan Fuller, Trevor LaVare and Avery Kuhn.
