A Voice from the Eastern Door
A former St. Regis Mohawk Tribe chief was arrested Saturday night when police allegedly found him to be in possession of 23 lbs. of marijuana.
State police said Phillip H. Tarbell, age 67 of Route 37, Hogansburg was traveling on Route 11 in the town of Adams when he was stopped by police for undisclosed reasons. Police then discovered that Tarbell was in possession of a large quantity of marijuana.
Tarbell was arraigned in the town of LeRay and remanded to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety building where he was later released on $1,500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
