Salmon River Shamrocks opens their season for hockey

The home opener for SRC Shamrocks took place on Wednesday December 2 at Fort Covington on home ice against Tupper Lake.  There were many fans present in support of both teams.  The Shamrocks came out on top with a score of 5 and 1 for the Lumberjacks.

Blake Tarbell and Clay Thomas Assisted Evan Thompson to open the scoring for the night.  In the second period, the helpers were Derek Hopps and Kyle Roundpoint to aid Oakley Thomas.  During the third period, Blake scored again with an assist from Nolan and Evan Thompson.  Also for his second goal for the night was Clay Thomas from Aaron Jacobs.  Oakley scored again from Clay and Evan.  Good skate and stick work combined for a very productive night for the SRC.  Matt Healey had a fine performance in goal for the team’s opening night.  SRC’s coaches are Tim Cook, Ted Cook, Joe Phillips and Mgr. Zachary Dunn.

Friday December 4, the Salmon River hockey team came out again and held onto another victory (3) against visiting Thousand Island (2).  Adam Bomberry and Clay Thomas gave an assist to Stevie Ray Adams for the first goal.  Stevie earned another point while he and Nick Smiddy helped Kevin Davey to make it 2 in the second period.  To seal the win and lopside the 2-2 tie in the third, SRC went up front to win the game 3-2.  Matt Healey again succeeded in the nets with the help of his team mates.
