Thank You everyone

My name is Sidney Thompson and I am the daughter of Vince & Gina Thompson. I am a 9th-grade student at Massena Central High School. I was recently interviewed and accepted to participate as a member of the People to People Sports Ambassador Program to Europe this summer. The 12-day experience in Austria and Germany will include encountering new cultures by exploring world history hands-on, challenging myself to become a stronger athlete and compete with international athletes in the Friendship Games, and make new friends all across the globe.

People to People Sports Ambassadors are carefully interviewed and evaluated before their acceptance, and I am honored to have been selected. I am looking forward to competing for USA in the basketball tournament and gaining a better understanding of Western European history. Upon my return, I plan to share my experience with schools and clubs in our community. As an Ambassador, I can also earn high school credit because of the many educational elements in my program.

My mother is always telling me that basketball is going to take me places and now I see what she means and it’s true. Sports will take you places.

My family and I are currently fundraising to help cover the costs of tuition. Our first fund raiser is a Raffle for 2 Sens vs. Buffalo tickets and parking pass, a beautiful Native painting by Jordan Thompson, and a dinner and movies basket. Tickets are being sold by family members so please look out for them. Drawing date will be December 13, 2009. Our second fundraiser will be selling Super Bowl squares.
