Hypnotist brings entertainment to Brass Horse

More than $20,000 was raised Friday night for Fred Lazore and his family who lost everything in a house fire last month. A fundraiser was held for the family at the Brass Horse with a hypnotist show being the main event of the night.

About two dozen community members – including Fred himself and his son Dylan – volunteered to be hypnotized. As with most hypnotist shows, not everyone is able to successfully be hypnotized and they’ll be allowed back to their seat when it’s clear that it’s not working for them. Among those who tried, but couldn’t, were Fred Lazore, Patti Herne, Roy Tarbell, Anna Burns, Alex Burns, and several others.

Those who were successfully hypnotized and entertained a packed house for over an hour included Courtney Johnston, Jacolbie Thompson, Dylan White Lazore, a Brass Horse pizzeria employee who would randomly say he had to get back to work before being “snapped” back into sleep, Ashley Tarbell, and a handful of others.

Those who had never been to a hypnotist show before were in for a big treat as hypnotism is real and when used in certain settings can be hilarious. The volunteers, in their hypnotized state, did everything from snuggle with one another to dance like strippers. One volunteer was made to think he was Rocky Balboa and he ran through the building getting high-fives from the audience. This same gentleman was also made to believe he was having a baby, and a real doctor in the house – Dr. Ben Kelly – was recruited to assist in the delivery of the baby and this brought tears to everyone’s eyes as they laughed and witnessed the “birth.”

The hypnotist show was followed by a benefit dance and the community came together to support Fred Lazore and his family raising thousands of dollars to assist his family.
