Disease Cure - Your Genes Are Not Your Fate

Many people have been conditioned to believe that their disease is based on genetics and that their genes are their fate. Research conducted by Dr. Dean Ornish and released in his book The Spectrum shows that a diet of whole, live, organic foods in conjunction with exercise and stress reduction techniques can do everything from reverse heart disease to reverse certain forms of cancer.

Test subjects with arterial clogging were shown to have dramatically unclogged arteries after a short time living a healthy lifestyle. Although expensive bypass surgeries are often suggested when heart disease is present, bypass surgeries have never been proven to extend overall patient lifespan and often add additional metabolic complications.

The results from Dr. Ornish exhibit that diet and lifestyle modifications not only prove to be a more effective and less expensive method for treating heart disease but many other improvements in secondary health conditions also resulted. There is no need to sign a waiver regarding the chance of death before a patient consumes an organic meal or does yoga but all heart bypass patients must sign such a death waiver before going under the knife. The healthy lifestyle described by Dr. Dean Ornish is also inexpensive, can be afforded by everyone, does not include any down time or recovery time as compared to bypass surgery and involves no toxic medications that in turn list their own separate side effect risks.

Dr. Ornish also focused in on patients with prostate cancer. Many prostate cancer patients often opt out for a “wait and see” approach, as conventional medical treatments regarding prostate cancer often leave the patient incontinent (always peeing their pants), impotent (no longer having the ability to get an erection) or both.

This leaves a large group of people walking around who are known to have cancer and who prefer to let nature take a crack at resolving the issue. This makes for a perfect volunteer group to study regarding how lifestyle changes can affect prostate tumor growth etc. The test subjects with prostate cancer who adopted a healthy lifestyle showed dramatic decreases in tumor size and some even completely reversed their prostate cancer.

Not only did the prostate cancer patients, who adopted a healthy lifestyle, live longer that group also showed overall cancer recurrence rates much lower than what conventional medical treatment (chemo/radiation/surgery) has achieved. Dr. Ornish proved again that less invasive, less expensive and more effective treatments for cancer have always been available yet are often hidden away from public view in order to indirectly promote drug and surgery cancer treatments that are more expensive, often less effective yet highly profitable for the pharmaceutical industry.

The books that can teach the foundations of a healthy lifestyle are Dr. Dean Ornish’s The Spectrum, Dr. Mark Hyman’s Ultra Metabolism, Dr. Stephen Sinatra’s book Sugar Shock or Paul Chek’s book How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy.

Movies regarding the same subject can be found in Food Matters, Food Inc. and Processed People. All would make great Christmas gifts.
