Cornwall Atom B Typhoons take gold

The Cornwall Atom B Typhoons won Gold during the 26th Annual Cornwall Girls hockey tournament, held this past weekend. The girls played their first game against the Russell Coyotes and came out on top with a 4-0 win. Goals were scored by Amber Thomas, Kalista Coleman and Kristy Pidgeon (2). Assists were provided by Jensen Pattinson, Ellexia Lazore, Taylor Barkley, Maya Swamp and Emilie Seguin. The shut-out was earned by Emily Tourangeau.

In their second game against the Gloucester Stars the girls once again prevailed with another 4-0 win. Goals were scored by Coleman(2), Pidgeon, and Lazore. Assisting on the goals were Barkley and Swamp. Alyssa Seguin earned the shut-out.

In their 3rd game in the round robin the girls played another undefeated team in the tournament from Smith Falls. Cornwall once again came out on top with a 6-2 win. Goals were shared by Pidgeon (3), Pattinson, K.C. Herne, and Amber Thomas. Helpers were provided by Herne, Thomas, Pidgeon, Kamryn Ransom and Lauren MacLeod. Emily Tourangeau earned the win in goal.

The girls once again faced off against the team from Smith Falls in the final. In front of a strong home team crowd the girls played until the end to get the win. Taylor Barkley got the first goal and put the home team ahead. The team from Smith Falls came back and tied it up and it remained that way until Kristy Pidgeon scored with 1:14 left in the 3rd period to give the home team the advantage. K.C Herne added one more with 43 seconds remaining. The girls held on for an impressive win. Swamp, and Pidgeon pitched in with assists. Alyssa Seguin played very strong between the pipes, making many key saves to keep the team on top.
