The grade 7 & 8 Kana:takon School students participated in a soccer tournament in Cornwall on October 8, 2009, competing against 4 other area schools.
The girls team won 1 out of 4 games but played tremendously well. All girls put forth 150% effort for each game, and displayed good sportsmanship. They worked well as a team despite some fierce competition, as our competitors appeared to have a number of experienced and talented players. Regardless, the score stayed even for most of each game and we lost by a small margin in 3 of the games played.
The girls were victorious in the first game, winning 1-0 over Rothwell-Osnabruck. Congratulations to Bridgitte Point-Bissonnette for scoring our one goal in the first game.
Congratulations to all the girls for demonstrating a winning spirit, displaying good sportsmanship and completing a day of hard play.
The boy’s team lost 3 games and tied one game (2-2) but played hard, despite no field practice time and many last minute recruitments. The boys ‘play improved throughout the day and played as a team to tie up the last game, 2-2, against L’Heritage.
Congratulations to Louie Thomas for the two goals scored in the last game and to Rohahiio for putting forth a notable effort in nets with no practice.
