A Voice from the Eastern Door

Picture of the Week

Submitted by Patrick Kelly, SRMT Forestry Technician

Picture was taken at the Glenmeal black ash site. In the spring the forestry crew prepared the site and with the help of the Ranger School students over 500 trees were planted with the tree tubes. This tree was one of the larger on the site and was girdled to kill the canopy and provide light to the seedlings. After taking the picture of the girdled part and loading it onto the computer screen I noticed the two holes, they combined with the curve of the girdling and kind of look like a face, in an abstract way. I saw that in the picture and decided to send it in for picture of the week.
