A Voice from the Eastern Door

Letter to the Editor:

Dear Salmon River School District Voters,

My name is Maryellen Cooke and I am writing to introduce myself and my candidacy for Salmon River District School Board.  I am running for the seat vacated by Kathleen Lauzon to complete the remaining 2 years of her 5 year term.

I feel my combination of experience and education will be a valuable asset when representing you and your families on the school board.  I am a mother of three grown children, two who are now in college, who attended Mohawk School and Salmon River Central.   For that reason I am very familiar with both schools and their special education departments.  I also have a one-year-old granddaughter so I have a great interest in the schools’ future.

In 2003 I graduated with my BA in Art Education from SUNY Potsdam.   I completed my student teaching at Salmon River at both the high school and elementary levels and received my NY State teaching certification.  I am currently a Training & Development manager and have been a trainer for the past 14 years.  I also have been a long time Weight Watchers’ leader.  I feel my educational background and experience will be beneficial when serving you on the Salmon River School Board.

The election is Tuesday, September 15 from noon to 8 p.m. at Salmon River Central school auditorium.  Anyone who is 18 years of age or older and lives in the Salmon River School district can vote.  I would like the honor of representing you and your families on the Salmon River Board of Education.  So please make your voice heard and come on out and vote.

Sincerely,

Maryellen T. Cooke
