A Voice from the Eastern Door
We see you in our dreams
And we talk and talk all night.
But as soon as we open our eyes
You’re gone from our sight.
So we look at all our pictures
And smile and hear your laughter.
And we go on with our day
Because we know we’ll see you after.
It’s hard to believe it’s been two years
Since you hugged us and said goodbye,
Since we’ve heard you say “Taki:ton!”
Shake your head and roll your eyes.
It’s the little things like that we miss
Whenever we think of you.
We’ll smile and laugh or cry a bit
At all our memories of you.
We try to keep in mind you’ve seen
Every triumph, game, and play,
And all the great things we’ve done
Since you left us that sad day.
Deep inside we feel you with us
In everything we do.
You cannot easily forget
Someone so special to us as you.
To each of us you’re something different.
But in the end you’re always our hero.
We miss you husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin,
Our “Papa” Donald Bero.
