A big THANK YOU to Pat and Rosanne Bender, who brought their horse, Buccaneer, to the Akwesasne Housing Authority on Friday, July 17, 2009. Buccaneer is a champion barrel racer who suffers diabetes. The Benders donated Buccaneer for the day as they gave rides to area children to help raise funds at the AHA’s annual garage sale. Among the many riders, the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club brought van loads of kids from their summer program to meet Buccaneer and enjoy rides throughout the day. It was a great success, and everyone behaved very well. Buccaneer has proven to be an inspiration to all he met that day and is a true champion! He helped the AHA raise over $1,500 for the community fund.
