A Voice from the Eastern Door
Fifteen proud women celebrated their graduation from Iohahi:io’s Office Administration Program on Thursday evening before their friends, families and teachers.
The one-year course, delivered in partnership with St. Lawrence College, gave the students an abundance of knowledge encompassing many professional areas. The women became skilled in organizational skills and especially in public speaking.
“This particular group had a gazillion presentations to do,” said Vincenette Cook, Program Manager of Iohahi:io.
One of the projects students had to complete during the course was the International Women’s Conference, which was held at the Brass Horse Banquet Hall. The students organized a day of empowering speeches and presentations from community women.
At the graduation ceremony for the Office Administration Program Carolyn Cook was honored with the Professionalism Award for her excellence throughout the course.
Elizabeth Lazore represented her class in a graduation speech.
“We’ve all learned so much this year,” she said, adding that the course proved that “if you want something bad enough you can have it.”
The graduates were Donna Arbour, Carolyn Cook, Lorna Francis, Marisa Francis, Maddie Johnson, Pam Laffin, Elizabeth Lazore, Cathy Mitchell, Lacey Pierce, Violet Sharrow, Donna Smoke, Haylee Sunday, Kristian Terrance, Ashley Thompson, Cheyenne Thompson and Cheavee Willie.
