Charlotte A. Cook

Mrs. Charlotte A. (Benedict) Cook, age 89, of Onondaga Nation passed away peacefully in the evening of Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the home of her granddaughter, Alicia Cook.

She was born May 12, 1919 on Cornwall Island, the daughter of William and Josephine Point Benedict. She was the loving wife of the late Johnson J. Cook of Onondaga Nation. Together they raised his three children, Andrew Cook, the late Horace J. Cook and Geraldine Steeprock; all of the Onondaga Nation.

Charlotte enjoyed being a homemaker, bird watching, and playing tag with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her chosen grandchildren, Roger Cook, Alicia Cook, Melerena Back, and Rosebud Cook, all of Akwesasne. Also Brenda and Angus Cook of the Onondaga Nation. She will also be sorrowfully missed by her many great and great great grandchildren and especially her great granddaughter Lacy Cook who held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her only sister, Rose Benedict, Syracuse.

Friends called at the home of her granddaughter, Alicia Cook, 1111 Drum Street Road, Akwesasne, until a traditionalist funeral service held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Drum Street Road.
