ABGC travel to Buffalo Bandits game

The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club would like to thank Chuck Brown and the Buffalo Bandits along with The Staff at the Oneida Recreation Center in Oneida NY for extending nothing less than first class hospitality.

The trip started out on March 27th with an overnight at the Oneida Recreation Center in Oneida NY, where the club members were treated to dinner and activities. The members immediately got to know each other and quickly became friends. The club is looking forward to their visit in the summer to repay the kindness they have shown.

As the vans left Oneida at 6am and entered Buffalo at 10am the kids were all rested and ready for more, which is just what they got. Assistant Coach Chuck Brown had a full day planned for them with the Buffalo Bandits. Not only were the members allowed access to the pre-game shoot around but he also set up a locker room tour. When the members thought that was it Brown pulled out a stack of team posters for the members to get signed by each player. There was the showing of the 2008 MLL Championship ring and an essay writing contest, which Kobi Johnson and Daniel Lazore won to be the honorary ball boys for the game that night against the NY Titans. Brown even donated a full sized autographed flag to the club, for all the members to see.

The best part of the trip was the actual game, although the Bandits failed to win, they showed tremendous heart and character in the face of defeat. Every club member left HSBC Arena with a huge smile and their own story to tell about the game and players. So thank you to all who helped make this such an amazing experience.
