A Voice from the Eastern Door
On March 6th, 2009, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were advised of a Hit and Run which had occurred between two vehicles in Kanatakon. The suspect vehicle was driven onto the Ice Bridge after hitting the complainant’s vehicle. Upon investigation, a 39 year old male of Massena, New York was charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Failing to Report an Accident.
On March 6th, at approximately 1:36 p.m. Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were patrolling on Kawehnoke when they observed a passenger in a vehicle who was wanted on an outstanding Arrest Warrant for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Conditions. Gregory David, 46 years of age of Kanatakon, Quebec was arrested without incident, and released for court on the 24th of March in Cornwall, Ontario.
On March 7th, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were patrolling in Tsi Snaihne when they observed a driver of a vehicle who was wanted on an outstanding Arrest Warrant. Michael Scott Mitchell, 47 years of age from Tsi Snaihne was arrested for “Failing to Comply with Conditions” and transported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service station. Mitchell was released for Court in Valleyfield, Quebec on March 18th, 2009.
On March 7th, at approximately 6:47 p.m. Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were patrolling along River Road in Tsi Snaihne after receiving a call that young people were walking on the ice when it was unsafe to be on the river.
One individual observed walking from the river area was known to police to have an outstanding Warrant for his Arrest. Cory Francis Sunday, 37 years of age of Akwesasne, New York was arrested and transported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service Station. Sunday was released for Court in Valleyfield, Quebec on March 23rd, 2009.
