Students honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday and nationwide celebration

Elementary students at Salmon River Central and the St. Regis Mohawk School participated in a national celebration of reading to honor the birthday and memory of famed children’s author Dr. Seuss.

Read Across America Day was celebrated on March 6 and students at the Salmon River campus school had the right spirit, as did teachers and staff who organized the day’s festivities.

First the students were fed green eggs and ham for breakfast. Then, mid-morning, each class was read to by a teacher other than own. All the classic Dr. Seuss books were read.

Teachers were invited to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character and the students made Dr. Seuss hats out of construction paper in art class.

At the end of the day the students gathered in the cafeteria to eat cake for Dr. Seuss.
