A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Beginning with Books Program, sponsored by the St. Regis Mohawk School, has been held weekly at the Akwesasne Library.
The Beginning With Books Program is a literacy hour designed for preschool-aged children and their parents and/or caregivers. During the literacy hour children and parents will listen to and discuss a story, sing songs, do finger plays, and work on a craft activity together.
This past Tuesday nearly twenty youngsters listened as Mrs. McKane read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr. Afterwards the students made brown bears out of glue and construction paper.
All parents and/or caregivers with pre-school aged children (birth-4 years old) are invited and encouraged to come and join the fun. Snacks are provided and all children are given a free book for their home library.
Tentative dates are March 24th, April 7th, and April 21st.
If you have questions about the Beginning With Books Program, please call Ellen Cook at 358-6675 or Christine McKane at 358-6669.
